Jailhouse Cottage Accommodation is located right in the heart of historic Middlemarch. This beautiful hidden slice of Otago has many activities to explore right on our doorstep.
- Cycle on the famous Otago Rail Trail (three bike shops are within walking distance of the cottage)
- Visit Middlemarch Railway Station with its array of carriages and train engines
- Stroll down to the Taieri River and fish for trout or just sit and watch the river flow
- Take a tipple or dine at The Strath Taieri Hotel
- Lunch at the Kissing Gate Café or just grab a scrumptious cake and coffee
- Take a walk around the village, with many old buildings from a by-gone age.
- Ramble on the many trails on the Rock and Pillar Ranges
- Try your skill on the 9-hole golf course
- Lawn bowling at Middlemarch Bowling Club
- Visit the Strath Taieri Historical Museum
- Visit Sutton Salt Lake - the only Salt Lake in New Zealand and is easy to walk around
